The anchor chain swivel is a critical connecting component in the marine anchor chain system. It is primarily used to connect the anchor chain to the anchor, or the anchor chain to the shackle, and allows 360° rotation to prevent the anchor chain from twisting. We provide professional transport services for anchor chain swivels from the factory to ports worldwide. Swivels can be shipped individually or in the same batch together with anchor chains, shackles, and other accessories.
Common Types
Kenter Swivel
Fork Swivel
Eye Swivel
Extended Swivel
Heavy-duty Marine Anchor Chain Swivels (for various chain diameters)
Key Transport Challenges
Wide Variation in Single-Unit Weight: From small swivels weighing tens of kilograms to large swivels weighing hundreds of kilograms or even over one ton.
Precision Structure with Moving Parts: The internal mechanism must remain free to rotate. Impact or crushing during transport can cause deformation or jamming.
Irregular Shape: The protruding connection holes at both ends and the central rotating body are prone to damage to the surface coating if rolled or impacted.
Easily Confused with Ordinary Shackles and Connecting Links: If mixed loosely, loading, counting, and sorting become difficult, and items are easily lost.
High Surface Protection Requirements: Most swivels require protection against rust and impact, especially when shipped to offshore or ocean-going vessels where surface quality is strictly required.
Our Transport Solutions
Packaging & Securing
Single or few swivels: Use custom wooden crates or steel-frame boxes with foam/rubber padding inside, securing the swivel to prevent mutual impact.
Batch swivels: Pallet + shrink wrap + layered dividers with cushioning material between each layer.
Large swivels: Weld a dedicated steel base or U-shaped saddle; bolt the swivel body in place to prevent rolling during transport.
Apply clear shipping marks and warning labels such as "Precision Part" and "Do Not Impact" on all packaging.
Lifting & Handling
Small swivels (<50kg): Manual handling or forklift with pallet.
Medium swivels (50-300kg): Forklift or manual hydraulic pallet jack. Use nylon slings for lifting; avoid direct contact with wire ropes.
Large swivels (>300kg): Provide dedicated lifting lugs or lifting beams. Design lifting points based on the swivel's center of gravity to ensure stable lifting without tilting.
Arrange on-site handling guidance or send personnel for loading supervision.
Transport Modes
Standard Container: Load wooden crates or pallets directly and secure with filler material and straps to container sidewalls.
Open-top / Flat rack container: Suitable for large or over-width swivels. Bare stowage or reinforced crate, with lashing points welded to the flat rack floor.
Breakbulk vessel: Suitable for large quantities or extra-large swivels. Bare stowage; we provide welded bases and lashing plans.
Road Transport: Enclosed vans (weatherproof) with straps securing pallets or crates. Large swivels use flatbeds + steel frame welding.
Sea Freight:
Multimodal Transport: Road + sea + inland river transport for door-to-door service.
