Marine anti-corrosion anode blocks are critical components used to protect underwater metal structures such as the hull, seawater piping, rudder plates, and propellers from electrochemical corrosion. We provide professional transport services for anode blocks from the factory to ports worldwide (or shipyards, ship repair bases). Anode blocks can be shipped individually or in the same batch together with other marine fittings.
Common Types
Plate Anode Block (Flush-welded to the hull shell plating)
Bar / Strip Anode Block (For local protection)
Semi-circular / Curved Anode Block (Fits hull curvature)
Bracelet Anode Block (Fitted around pipework or shafting)
Reinforced Anode Block (With steel core or bracket)
Custom-shaped Anode Block (For rudder blades, sea chests, and other special locations)
Key Transport Challenges
Wide Variation in Single-Unit Weight: From a few kilograms for small anodes to tens or even hundreds of kilograms for large anode blocks.
High Surface Quality Requirements: The active face of the anode (the part exposed to seawater) must be clean, free from severe dents, and free of oil contamination; otherwise, its electrochemical performance will be affected.
Structural Weak Points: Some anode blocks have steel cores, brackets, or welding feet that may bend or break if improperly loaded during transport.
Irregular Shape: Curved, bracelet, or custom-shaped anode blocks are difficult to stack stably; they are prone to rolling or mutual deformation from compression.
Large Batch Sizes and Multiple Specifications: A single vessel or platform often requires dozens or even hundreds of anodes of different specifications. Mixed packing can lead to confusion or missing items.
Moisture and Contamination Prevention: Anode blocks must not come into contact with grease, paint, or strong acids/alkalis. Packaging must avoid cross-contamination.
Our Transport Solutions
Packaging & Securing
Small anodes (<10kg): Use heavy-duty cartons or woven bags with a fixed quantity per bag/box. Use internal dividers or bubble wrap to prevent mutual impact.
Medium anodes (10-30kg): Use wooden pallets + stretch wrap. Stack anodes by specification in layers, with cardboard or foam between layers. Secure each layer with straps.
Large anodes or anodes with brackets: Custom wooden or steel frames. Fix the mounting surface or steel core of the anode to the frame, keeping the active face suspended and protected.
Bracelet or curved anodes: Use custom foam or rubber liners to secure the curved shape and prevent rolling.
Apply clear shipping marks on all packaging, indicating specification, quantity, and installation location (e.g., port side / starboard side / rudder blade) for fast distribution at the shipyard.
Lifting & Handling
Small anodes: Manual handling or forklift. Avoid throwing.
Medium and above: Use forklift or crane. Use nylon slings or soft slings for lifting. Direct contact of wire ropes with the anode active face is prohibited.
Anodes with brackets: Lifting points should be on the bracket or steel core, not directly on the anode body.
Provide on-site handling guidance or send personnel for loading supervision.
Transport Modes
Standard Container: Load pallets or wooden crates; secure both sides with air bags or wooden dunnage to prevent sliding.
Open-top / Flat rack container: Suitable for extra-long or custom-shaped anodes. Weld a base or use dedicated clamps for securing.
Breakbulk vessel: Large quantities of anodes can be packed in bulk bags or net bags for stowage. Avoid excessive stacking height.
Road Transport: Enclosed vans (weatherproof, dustproof, oil-proof). Secure pallets to the vehicle with straps. For large anodes: flatbed + steel frame.
Sea Freight:
Multimodal Transport: Road + sea + inland barge for door-to-door service.
Value-added Services
Assistance with shipping mark and packing list preparation. Can pack by installation area upon request (e.g., one batch for hull bottom, one batch for sea chest).
Pre-loading individual photos or videos for client confirmation of quantity and appearance.
Temporary protective film or peelable coating on the anode active face upon request.
Batch shipment together with hull fittings (fairleads, anchor chain shackles, etc.) for combined customs clearance and unified delivery.
Coordination of phased delivery by specification or single delivery to designated shipyard warehouse at destination port.
Our Advantages
Years of experience handling various marine anti-corrosion materials, familiar with impact-proof and roll-proof packaging solutions for different anode shapes.
Refined pallet and box packing by specification and area for batch shipments, enabling direct pick-up and installation at the shipyard upon receipt.
Packing lists and protection instructions in both Chinese and English for easy inspection by overseas shipyards or engineering teams.
Flexible single-shipment handling: small quantities or full vessel sets, all managed efficiently.
Arrangement of urgent orders or phased deliveries according to ship repair or newbuilding project schedules.
