服务详情

The marine fairlead is a cable-guiding device installed on a ship's deck or bulwark. It guides the mooring line or cable smoothly along the ship's side, reducing friction and wear between the cable and the hull. We provide professional transport services for marine fairleads from the factory to ports worldwide. Fairleads can be shipped individually or in the same batch together with anchor chains, shackles, and other deck fittings.

Common Types

  • Roller Fairlead (Single-roller, Double-roller, Multi-roller)

  • Roller-type Fairlead (Vertical roller, Horizontal roller)

  • Combination Fairlead (Roller + Roller)

  • Guide Roller / Fairlead Roller

  • Recessed Fairlead (Embedded into bulwark structure)

  • Anti-chafe Roller Fairlead

Key Transport Challenges

  • Irregular Shape: Fairleads have protruding roller brackets, shaft holes, and mounting bases. The complex shape requires careful packaging to avoid vulnerable areas.

  • Rotatable Rollers/Rollers: If not secured during transport, rollers can rotate freely, potentially damaging the bearings or surface, or even dislodging due to impact.

  • High Surface Protection Requirements: The roller surfaces (which typically contact the cable) and mounting surfaces must be smooth and free of dents. Impact during transport can easily cause dents or scratches.

  • Multiple Specifications in a Single Batch: A single vessel often requires multiple sizes and types of fairleads. Mixing them can lead to confusion or mutual deformation due to compression.

  • Wide Variation in Single-Unit Weight: Small fairleads weigh tens of kilograms; large fairleads can reach hundreds of kilograms or even over one ton.

Our Transport Solutions

  1. Packaging & Securing

    • Small fairleads: Use wooden crates or heavy-duty cardboard boxes with foam or EPE pearl cotton padding inside. Maintain clearance between the roller and the crate walls.

    • Medium fairleads: Pallet + custom wooden frame. Bolt or strap the fairlead base to the wooden frame. Use soft straps to lock the rollers and prevent rotation.

    • Large fairleads: Weld a dedicated steel base or bracket. Fix the mounting surface facing downward. Keep the rollers suspended or supported to avoid pressure.

    • Roller/Roller surfaces: Wrap with protective film or rubber sleeves to prevent scratching.

    • Batch shipments: Secure same-type fairleads in layers with heavy cardboard between layers. Secure each layer individually.

  2. Lifting & Handling

    • Small (<50kg): Manual handling or forklift. Avoid hitting the rollers.

    • Medium (50-200kg): Use forklift or manual hydraulic pallet jack. For lifting, use nylon slings through base holes or brackets.

    • Large (>200kg): Provide a spreader beam or multi-point sling. Design lifting points based on the center of gravity to avoid single-point stress and bracket deformation.

    • Arrange on-site handling guidance or send personnel for loading supervision.

  3. Transport Modes

    • Standard Container: Load wooden crates or pallets; secure both sides with air bags or wooden dunnage to prevent sliding.

    • Open-top / Flat rack container: Suitable for large or oversized fairleads. Bare stowage or steel frame fixing. Lock rollers with soft straps.

    • Breakbulk vessel: Large quantities of fairleads can be stowed bare, with wooden dunnage underneath and brackets welded to the vessel structure.

    • Road Transport: Enclosed vans (weatherproof) with straps securing crates/pallets. For large fairleads: flatbed + welded base.

    • Sea Freight:

    • Multimodal Transport: Road + sea + inland barge for door-to-door service.

  4. Value-added Services

    • Assistance with shipping mark and packing list preparation, clearly indicating model, installation dimensions, and port/starboard applicability (if differentiated).

    • Pre-loading photos or videos for client confirmation of quantity and appearance.

    • Additional surface protection for rollers (e.g., anti-rust oil, protective tape wrapping).

    • Batch shipment together with anchor chains, shackles, fairlead holes, and other deck fittings for combined customs clearance and unified delivery.

    • Coordination of phased delivery by model at destination port.

Our Advantages

  • Years of experience handling various deck castings and irregularly shaped cargoes, familiar with roller locking and protection methods.

  • Custom steel frame or wooden frame solutions to minimize damage to rollers and mounting surfaces during transport.

  • Refined packaging by model for batch shipments, enabling direct bracket delivery for installation at destination port.

  • Flexible single-shipment handling: one unit or a full batch, all managed efficiently.

  • Stable slot resources on major global routes, supporting door-to-door full-service transport.
