Service Details

The marine anchor chain shackle is a critical connecting component that links the anchor chain to the anchor, the anchor chain to the swivel, or one section of anchor chain to another. It bears the full tension load during vessel mooring and berthing. We provide professional transport services for anchor chain shackles from the factory to ports worldwide. Shackles can be shipped individually or in the same batch together with anchor chains, swivels, sinkers, and other accessories.

  • Kenter Shackle

  • D-Shackle (Dee Shackle)

  • Bow Shackle

  • End Shackle

  • Connecting Shackle

  • Forged Shackle

Key Transport Challenges

  • Wide Variation in Single-Unit Weight: From small shackles weighing a few hundred grams to large shackles weighing hundreds of kilograms or even over one ton.

  • Irregular Shape with Moving Parts: The shackle body is U-shaped or D-shaped, equipped with a cross-pin. During transport, the cross-pin can easily loosen, get lost, or become jammed.

  • Large Batch Sizes and Multiple Specifications: A single shipment often involves multiple sizes and types. If mixed loosely, counting and sorting become difficult.

  • High Surface Treatment Requirements: Most shackles have a galvanized or painted coating. Mutual impact during transport can cause scratches or paint loss, affecting customer acceptance.

  • Risk of Separation Between Pin and Body: If packaged separately, the cross-pin is easily lost. If not separated, the cross-pin may rotate and disengage during transport.

Our Transport Solutions

  1. Packaging & Securing

    • Single or few large shackles: Use wooden crates or steel-frame boxes. Secure the shackle body and cross-pin separately (pin tied separately or inserted and locked with cable ties). Line the interior with foam or rubber.

    • Batch of small/medium shackles: Pallet + layered dividers + stretch wrap. Secure the cross-pin of each shackle to the body using cable ties. Place same-type shackles on the same layer.

    • Integral shackles without cross-pin (e.g., certain Kenter shackles): Arrange and secure directly, with cardboard or plastic sheets between layers.

    • Apply shipping marks on the packaging, clearly indicating model, quantity, and compatible anchor chain diameter for fast sorting at the destination port.

  2. Lifting & Handling

    • Small shackles (<10kg): Manual handling or forklift with pallet. Handle with care.

    • Medium shackles (10-50kg): Avoid throwing during manual handling. Use a forklift for overall pallet handling.

    • Large shackles (>50kg): Use forklift or crane. Use nylon slings or soft slings for lifting to avoid metal-to-metal contact and surface coating damage.

    • Provide on-site handling guidance or send personnel for loading supervision.

  3. Transport Modes

    • Standard Container: Load pallets or crates; secure both sides with air bags or wooden dunnage to prevent lateral shifting.

    • Open-top / Flat rack container: Suitable for large or heavy shackles. Weld steel frames or use bolt fastening.

    • Breakbulk vessel: Large quantities of shackles can be packed in bulk bags (ton bags) and stowed bare.

    • Road Transport: Enclosed vans (weatherproof). Secure pallets or crates to the vehicle sidewalls with straps. For large bare shackles, weld a base for securing.

    • Sea Freight:

    • Multimodal Transport: Road + sea + inland barge for door-to-door service.

  4. Value-added Services

    • Assistance with export customs declaration and HS code classification (marine anchor chain shackles typically fall under marine accessories).

    • Pre-loading individual photos or videos for client confirmation of quantity and appearance.

    • Additional anti-rust packaging (e.g., VCI paper, anti-rust bags) upon request.

    • Batch shipment together with anchor chains, swivels, sinkers, etc., for combined customs clearance and unified delivery.

    • Coordination of phased delivery by model or single-signature receipt at destination port.

Our Advantages

  • Familiar with the structural characteristics of various shackle types. We design reliable packaging lock solutions to prevent "lost cross-pins".

  • Refined packaging by model, layer, and pallet for batch shipments, enabling direct pallet delivery at destination port.

  • Shipping marks and packing lists in both Chinese and English for fast verification at overseas destination.

  • Flexible single-shipment handling: a few shackles or a full batch, all managed efficiently.

  • Arrangement of destination customs clearance, delivery appointment, and final delivery for clients upon request.
